I love it when they make movies in which high school is taken oh so seriously. Even better is when there’s kind of an awareness about it… a sense of “yes, we know we’re increasing the melodrama to unreasonable heights.” Assassination of a High School President is one such movie. It’s straight-to-DVD… so that means you don’t have to look for a theater showing it.

Wondering how Mischa Barton is doing now that she’s free to roam?
“I’m feeling great! I’m really happy! [Work is] going really well… I’m excited!” she says with too much excitement and too many exclamation points!
But you can always tell who’s crazy and who’s sane by their use of punctuation. True fact.
Others are willing to back me up on my professional assessment, such as one of the New York Daily News’ sources:
“Mischa needs more aggressive treatment over a long period of time. It’s only been a matter of days since she was released from the hospital, and I think she definitely wasn’t there long enough. She needs to be very cautious — she’s at a very big risk. I personally think it’s a bad idea to go back this quickly, given her past history with substance abuse.”
I told you so.
Nicole Richie struggled with drugs and arrests and wild child behavior. So now she’s quietly coming alongside Mischa Barton and trying to help her overcome her problems.
The two have been friends for years, but Mischa continued partying while Nicole settled down and made babies. But Radar’s source says Mischa might finally be calming herself now that she’s getting assistance:
“[She] is doing great — thanks to Nicole. She stepped in and talked to her about making changes in her life… basically doing a 360… Mischa isn’t even smoking anymore, thankst o Nicole. Nicole told Mischa that she has to straighten up because she has a lot riding on this new show.”
It’s great to have people who will take care of you when life is falling apart. You know someone popped into your head — go thank them today. Because there are definitely opportunities for all of us to slide down the wrong path if someone isn’t there to catch us.
Mischa Barton is out of the hospital, and ready to start working on her new show, The Beautiful Life. She had planned to stay awhile and get her act together, but someone probably whispered that her last chance at a career was dying. Producers for the show had started talking recasting for Mischa’s role.
Suddenly, Mischa was all better! And ready to work! Don’t worry about meltdowns later on! Ha!
Mischa Barton’s mental illness has cost her credibility and a movie premiere, but now it might be getting her fired from new show, The Beautiful Life.
Of course, it would be insensitive to say she’s getting fired because of mental illness, so they’ll say something like, “The show must go on!” while casting a new actress to fill Mischa’s role. She was supposed to play Sonja Stonean, a model who’s star is fading. Sound familiar?
Poor Mischa… it seems she’s destined to end up as a cautionary tale.
Mischa Barton’s 72 hours of lockdown are up, but the actress plans to stay voluntarily. Maybe it was friends convincing her or just an epiphany, but the actress has figured out that she is severely messed up.
According to one of the New York Post’s sources, Mischa has a lot to sort through before she can handle life on her own again:
“She’s in very bad shape. She’s running out of money and can’t find love, so now she is looking for a good time to escape her misery. She is on a downward spiral. She is a mess. She is a suicidal, uninsurable mess.”
Hopefully she gets clean and sober and healthy in the head. We do not need another Lindsay Lohan situation (I’d say Britney, but no one can come close to Britney — that was History Making Crazy).
Sooooo… although there were all sorts of stories floating yesterday about why Mischa Barton had police escort her to the hospital, the truth is out.
Mischa was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold.
That means that against her will, she can be held for up to 72 hours on a mental ward for evaluation and treatment because she is deemed a physical threat to herself or others.
It also means she missed last night’s premiere in New York City of Homecoming, her newest movie.
This has to be a scary time to Mischa, her family, and her friends. Let’s hope they all work together with the doctors so the young actress gets the care she needs to recover.
Mischa Barton isn’t the only one who’s ready for the Beautiful Life — supermodel Elle MacPherson will also star in the new CW drama. She will play Claudia, a tough former model who now owns a New York modeling agency.
This isn’t Elle’s first time acting. She appeared in Batman & Robin, and guested in several episodes of television show Friends in the 90s.
Do you think you’ll try watching this show? I won’t… I’m annoyed by the concept itself, but then adding on the heavy-handed joke — calling Elle’s character Claudia in reference to fellow Super Claudia Schiffer — is the last straw.
Sorry, Elle.
Oh, boo hoo. Mischa Barton is playing a “veteran model” on new television show A Beautiful Life – but there are conditions.
According to The Daily Express (via PopWrap), the actress might be too small to play one of the skinniest people in the world:
“Mischa has the part on codition she does not lose weight. They want her to put some weight on if she can.”
The italics are mine. Because I’m disgusted. “IF she can” put on weight?! There are very few people in this world who can’t, and the majority of them aren’t able to because they haven’t been fed in a few months.
