It seems like there’s been of a backlash against all the Photoshopping.
Harper’s Bazaar published a refreshing spread in their September issue, showing high-profile models without makeup and without any touch-ups. Of course the women are still gorgeous — their genes and their access to the best skincare certainly contribute. But the obvious beauty is enhanged — in my opinion — by the addition of their flaws. It also encourages an appreciation for the real beauty we can see in the faces we pass every day.
So am I inspired to skip my own makeup today? Not a chance. But baby steps toward feeling more comfortable in one’s body are always good.
