We knew that there was a lot of unreleased music lying around somewhere, but according to Tommy Mottola — who was the head of Sony Music from 1998 till 2003 — we could be hearing brand new music from Michael Jackson for years to come:
“There are dozens and doezens of songs that did not end up on his albums. People will be hearing a lot of that unreleased material for the first time ever. There’s just some genius and brilliance in there.”
Some bits and pieces have been leaked (like his duet with Akon, Hold My Hand), but the vast majority has never been heard. Are you excited?
How’s the last part of Monday treating you? Hopefully you enjoyed at least the first part of the Japanese Spider-Man show. If you don’t have a lot of time but still need a boost, maybe this will do the trick — Fat Joe and Akon’s newest music video, One.
And if that doesn’t work, get a massage. I just had a half-hour session and I feel faaaaaaaaaaaabulous. So relaxed I can leave my finger on one key for an extended period and not be too worried about it.
But try the music video first because it’s cheaper and you don’t have to leave a tip.
Rihanna may have suspected Chris Brown was cheating on her loooong before the booty call text message he received this weekend, that started the argument ending with an emergency 911 call.
It seems the Umbrella singer was working with Akon on a new song called Emergency Room, about a woman seeking revenge against her cheating lover. The song has already leaked online, and you can listen to it here.
Notice some of the lyrics:
I’m going to leave your heart broken on the floor
You’re gonna be in the emergency room
I’m standing by your bed
And so tempted to pull out your IV…
Those of you who loved the exploding skyscrapers Lady Gaga recently wore while performing — you’re in luck! The songstress is coming out with her own line of clothing!
The native New Yorker is excited to share her fashion sensibilities with the world:
“I can’t wait to do my own line. It’s definitely something I want to do in the next year as I do have my own style. I’m already talking to my boy Akon about it.”
Akon is in definitely on board with the clothing line, thinks it’s a great idea… but does that actually make this seem like a good idea? Akon’s also the one who thought it was a good idea to dry hump underaged girls on stage during concerts.
Timbaland’s new album is set for release on January 5th, and I’m excited. Why? Because he always has the best collaborations, and Shock Value: Volume 2 looks like it’ll continue the tradition. Among the guest vocals will be Justin Timberlake (of course), Gwen Stefani, Usher, Keri Hilson, the Jonas Brothers, Madonna, Rihanna, T-Pain, Akon, and Jay Z.
Selfish me, I hope some of this leaks ahead of time, because I can’t wait!
Akon threw a 15-year-old boy off a concert stage last year and — as if that wasn’t bad enough — when the kid landed, he landed on a girl’s head and gave her a concussion.
Of course the singer said he was provoked… we know from his song, Sorry, Blame It On Me, that he rarely actually takes responsibility for his behavior. But a court is making him take responsibility this time. Akon was ordered today to pay a fine of $250 and fulfill 65 hours of community service.
The fine is a joke, but the hours will probably cause some inconvenience. Let’s hope it makes Akon think twice before throwing children or humping them on stage.
Akon and Michael Jackson recorded a song together that was supposed to be on Akon’s new album, Freedom, but it is not to be.
Hold My Hand got leaked online and that’s when, according to Akon, Jackson pulled the plug:
“Musically we were on the same level and we wanted it to be special. We wanted it so that when people got my album, it was something that was never heard. But the leak stopped those plans. We will be doing more things together in the future, though.”
Have you heard the leak? If so, what do you think — should the two team up again for another?
It’s always interesting to see how people use new media to connect with one another. YouTube is giving us a new example by hosting YouTube Live, an event at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco that will include celebrities like Akon, will.i.am, and Katy Perry, as well as internet-only stars like Funtwo, LisaNova, and Tay Zonday.
The event will be streamed live today at 5 p.m. PST on their website, so go ahead and watch.
Maybe if you come up with a great YouTube idea — like a music video — we might see you as one of the guests next year!
News from Nelly! On the MTV website, he revealed he’s putting together a project that will involve some of best rappers of the day, saying, “Me, Akon, T-Pain and Pharrell are talking about doing a project. We got a host of things we’re trying to do — possibly put together this new 2009 [Bell Biv DeVoe] type of thing.”
Nelly won’t talk much about the project, though. It’s important to him to keep it quiet: “Those are all my boys. I’m kinda like the only one that adheres to the oath of secrecy. I don’t wanna break that.”
